No idea. That fused clapton I have looks quite smooth because the outer wrap wire is so tightly packed together but that one of yours looks more like some kind of staggered stuff.

Gonna have to give the SS a try and compare it to the ni80. Nothing I have atm is SS. All kanthal and ni80.
I hear good things about it though. Fast ramp up time, best for flavour? Worth a try at least.
