Once upon a time, I was in the county jail in what they called the single man side. One man to a cell. There were 32 cells.
Then one day I spoke to a guard saying this: There are 32 inmates on this block. Twice a day you let out 1/3 of us to get some exorcise and play cards. First you let out cells 1 through 10. That’s 10 people. Then cells 11 through 21 which is 10 people. Then cells 22 through 32. That’s 10 people. That’s only 30, but all 32 get out. How?

I hereby officially declare me to be a rocket scientist! Took a dozen tries, but I finally made a half way decent caramel macchiato in our brand new over priced espresso machine.
I think the espresso could be stronger though. Pressure gauge has a “range” for espresso. Should be in the middle. Mine have been just barely in the espresso range.
Couple hours googling and youtubeing and I’m more confused than ever. The grind is either too fine or too course. Which one is it, jerks?
It has two ways to adjust the grind. Grind amount and course/fine grind. First I set the grind amount to as high as it will go and tell it I want 2 shots. I set the coarseness to 8 as suggested. Goes from one (REAL fine) to 16. REAL course.
You put the uh, portafilter (Portable filter?) beneath the built in grinder, push it once and it gives you the correct amount for a double shot espresso. tamp it down firmly, with the device prvided. I’ve tried the “grind amount” at both ends of the spectrum and don’t see a difference. Seems to make the same amount either way.
Now I have to play with the course/fine grind. It seams like a courser grind gives me a higher pressure which is counter intuitive to me. I get just barely into the pressure gauge at a fine grind and about 1/3 the way with a course grind. We want it in the middle. I think.
This is a semi-auto machine. Supposed to be easy. At $700 it could be easier! Looked at 100% auto and they get shit for reviews. Lemme tell you, I spent a full 7 days researching. Buyersguide.com, consumer reports and of course Amazon reviews. 4.4 stars out of almost 27,000 reviews.
The one stars were all… Missing parts. Used. Bull shit, it was too complicated.
Anyone have experience with these beasts?

I could easily be wrong, but I installed the ducking browser and went to their website. Don’t remember why I went there, but I got 2 notifications from AVG saying duckduckgo tried to install 2 tracking cookies.
I had just installed AVG as my Norton license expired and they wanted 2 X the cost of the “first” year. I was aware that was going to happen and had unsubscribed the day I bought it so I wouldn’t be billed for a few hundred bucks.

Joined the group, asked my questions, then Friday I “attempted” to login to facebook and was told my account was permanently disabled because I violated some rule.
I’d be surprised if I’m on there twice a week. I very seldom comment, just likes and loves.
Can’t even request they look into it or dispute the decision. Can’t contact them, call them, nothing.

Halloween. My favorite holiday!
I usually go out around 8:00 pm. It’s dark and that’s when the action slows. That’s when the teens come out and they are from our hood and have some great costumes. (other people here are wealthy) I start asking questions. “Why do we celebrate Independence Day?” Most often answer: “What’s that?”
Me: “4th of July!”
Them: “Oh, for the fireworks!”
Me: “Why would we celebrate something the Chinese invented? What was the Mayflower?” Most will know this. I’ll ask what the people that landed were called. Most would know this. “Where did they come from?” Very few will know this. I’ll tell them. I’ll ask what it means to be independent.
Them: “Like when I turn 18?”
Me: “I doubt it. More like when you go to college or move out. THEN you’ll be independent. Mostly. At first, you’ll beg for money.”
I’ll ask if they know what taxation without representation means. VERY few will know that. I’ll explain it to them. We gave Great Britian taxes, but we still had to pay for things like law enforcement out of our pockets. Like the Boston tea party. A few heard of that.
(Do all these kids not pay attention in school, or are our schools a dismal failure? We rank 28th in education compared to other countries!)
Finally, we said, “Screw you, and on July 4th, 1776, we declared we wanted to be independent, so they sent over the British army, who got their asses kicked. That’s when we became independent and had our own country. Do you know what the name of our country was?” Most of them said no!
I’d ask the name of our 16th president. Most would know this. I’d ask what he was famous for. Most knew this. I’d ask what the war was about. Freeing the slaves, they claimed. What else I asked. NO one knew that!
Me: “You know how we have a federal government, a president and congress? The president is elected by the people of the entire nation, while each individual state elects their congressman. Congress is part of the federal government while each state elects our governor and local legislators, mayors and so forth. In the war, the confederates in the south wanted more control of their own states, or autonomy, and less from the federal government. The union, the north, wanted a strong federal government.”
Believe it or not, these kids ate it up.
This year, the wife wanted to go to bed early so I went out at 6:00 pm. Before 7:30 pm. I’d given out 2 5-gallon buckets of candy. We’re talking about close to $150 in candy.
Dogs bark the entire time I’m out there, cuz they hear my lips flapping. Wife aint gonna sleep through that, hence the early start.
Note all the cars in the video. Those folks are from other hoods in the city. INUNDATED! Can’t ask any questions or make people laugh. Just one long line!

Yeah, Bri, I’m not a pro about internet shit, by any stretch. All I can say, is that I trust them more than any other search engine. So much of our personal info is ‘out there’ now, that it probably doesn’t matter what we use.

Sold a cyber security firm. I’ve heard of DDG but never googled it. I used Brave. Checking out DDG now,
In Ca. a law says a site MUST give us an option to deny cookies that sell our data for advertising purposes. FAR too many ignore that. So far I see DDG blocks that shit. Haven’t even seen the notification, “This site uses cookies.”
Yeah, Anti-Virus Guard. With the free version you get TONS of ads for upgrading and additional products. e.g. tune-up. Fixes broken registries and shortcuts, updates drivers (made a backup before trying that one) checks to see if the drives are fragmented (Which Windows does automagically) and a bunch more. Helps to maintain speed. They get 4.6 *'s from almost 33,000 reviews on trustpilot.
Even WITH all the add-ons it’s cheaper than the others and does very well in testing.
What software do y’all use for backups? I’ve used Image for Windows from Terabyte Unlimited since 2002. VERY reasonably priced. Buy once and get all upgraded versions for life! Great support forums which many of their engineers and support staff participate in.
Getting a little too complicated for me. Tried one from Easuse. Nice app. except they are constantly telling me there’s an update. Updates are a good thing, but almost every month? Mostly security fixes.
And EVERY time, I have to login to their site to update the reg key! I open the app to check the status of backups, I install them, the app. restarts and tells me to register the app.

I remember AVG back in the day, and they had a very secure, and good free version, everyone was using it. Many of us kicked up to the paid versions after that.
