Don’t really understand the obsession some have with mechs! A combination of how quick regulated devices with newer chips fire and features like curves and boosts I can get a regulated device to hit just as hard as any mechs I have and I hate that drop off in power as the battery runs down, each to their own though!
After @Timwis’s verbal abuse (kidding), I’ll try some more of the Ni80 to see what’s what, and if I judged it/them too harshly previously. I’m not Nickle sens, so at least there’s THAT.

Indeed. A mech sounds like a lot of unnecessary risk for very little benefit. Even if blowing my face off could potentially improve my looks, I wouldn’t be guaranteed to survive said blowing off of the face so even then it’s not worth it.
That reminds me, I didn’t notice any metallic taste using KA1 mesh or coils.
It was probably buried in the IMMENSE AMOUNT OF FLAVOUR!
I only get that with SS coils!
Well, you’re lucky, as MOST modern mods, you won’t blow yourself up. Worse case, they go into protect, then you figure it out. Most good mods will hit on VERY low subohm loads, so you don’t nec. have to be slave to an ohm reader, trying to tweak resistances. Decide on a material, pay CLOSE attention to your deck for how much ROOM you have, which will dictate how many wraps you can fit, and roll and see how it tastes. Take NOTES, on what’s great or not, then you’ll narrow in on YOUR favorites, and your TANKS favorite coils.
Not tried SS coils yet but I tried the SS mesh in this titan and didn’t notice any difference.
Well, if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it …
I gotta say I share that @Timwis. I mean, the few I have DO INDEED hit like a FREIGHT TRAIN right out of the gate, but there’s no manipulation or equalization (regulation) once the batts start to deplete.
The times I have done a build and I get atomiser short and think thank Christ I am not using a mech!
See THAT’S the interesting thing here. Everyone’s tastes are different.
I would be shitting myself every time I took a hit from a mech. Never gonna happen!
More so with wire coils, SS gives crisp flavour but a metallic taste also, at least that’s what I find, it doesn’t smack you in the face but deffo present!
I seriously tried out SS way back when @Pro_Vapes kinda got me into them. I mean they were fine, but I didn’t think to myself, “OMG, these are sooo much cleaner than my Kanthal”, or “Wow, major flavor increase”. Just never happened. I know they start to rule pretty heavy in the TC world, but I like WATTS !!!
Yeah, same here. The KA1 seems to be capable of much higher wattages from what I’ve seen in my many hours (at least 48!) of experience with proper coils.
I find Kanthal very good for flavour but for me Ni80 just edges it!
It may well be the case I prefer Ni80 because I either vape single coil RDL or MTL !
Well @Illogik it CAN come down to your amounts of free time, patience, and some skill.
I lack patience (except for flavor testing, hehe), and the time to get into building coils for hours, or having to tweak them, baby them, care for them, etc.
I need Gas And Go Coils. Kanthal puts up with a lot of abuse, hold their shape, don’t deform easily, and just generally are a work horse. Some metals you can’t go too high or they will MELT. Others give off toxic chems at high temps. Ni80 has Nickel in it, and some people are allergic. FUN RIGHT ?? !!!
Less fuss, more vaping for me.
Thinking of people I really respect, and have learned countless things from, @Pro_Vapes.
Great Ti work here …
