Back in the days when I used to smoke I’ve even used a cigarette lighter for a bit of impromptu slide work :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: but those picks and slides are a thing of beauty and if I had them I’d be scared to use them in case I chuffed and scratched them up :flushed:

Just makes them even more pretty, really. <3
I have had a few already… and I can say there is a difference between bone and wood and metal. Even ceramic, but do not be scared! Price-wise tho… yeah… took some convincing even for me. However, worth every penny… and I am not an experienced player… if fact I can do twinkle on all my instruments, but I mainly try swamp tones. I know better players that make my playing just suck!!! but that is the fun in it

I was never very good at slide so the ones I have work well enough for my purposes.

In my experience there’s always gonna be better players than you, an old friend of mine in my eyes was an absolutely amazing player and I told him as much and he said he’d rather play like i did… go figure!

I guess the moral is we all see our own playing in different ways to how everyone else hears it. Nowadays I just dont get the time to play and when I do I’m just as rusty as, and spend a lot of time trying to remember all the songs I used to know or noodling around with blues scales and rhythms

This is his second… only 2 in the world that look like this… bad to the bone guitars…

I have his gourd 4 string guitar too and can play it better than my 3 stringed ones. It’s like a cross between a uke and a banjo sound

One of the coolest things I ever saw - and it might have been a set up, I don’t know. I’m at a bar. This somewhat punky, Green Day’ish band was playing. They were decent, but not a group I’d purposely go see. This dude at a nearby table buys a bottle of beer, and after the waitress brings it to him, he goes to the bandstand and hands it to the guitarist after the band had just come off a break. The guy stands there on the stage and pours the entire beer on the bandstand, then uses the empty bottle and proceeds to just bayou the hell out of a slide solo. It was really quite amazing.

As amazing as I’m sure it was it sounds like a waste of good beer, a real man would of downed the beer first :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::joy:

It was a Budweiser. That waste began at the brewery

He has been giving me carving lessons for the last yr+… but I do not think I am anywhere near ready for drip tips yet. The woods he is using… just is wow!! <3

Very cool stuff here. I love steel guitar. A buddy of mine was in a Bluegrass band, and another buddy of mine was in a Rock band. One day they got together. The guy in the Bluegrass band hooked his slide guitar up to a metal pedal and omg, it was crazy cool. Bluegrass Metal. He could have started a new genre.

Oh, and one of the coolest bands I ever saw was Blue Oyster Cult. Saw them in a bar here in lil ole Terre Haute, IN. They played for like 4 hours straight.
