I need cotton for wicking

I bought a RDA. Came with 2 coils, and one wick. I’m outta wicks already.

I found these on Amazon. shoelaces

If these are a bad idea, please tell me what is a good one.

I like these. Rocky posted a link and I grabbed a bag, easy to use and wicks very well.

WOAH! I just got that delivered yesterday! They don’t have the shoelace like “tips”, but I just twisted some up between wet finger tips, and in she went! THANKS!

Now I just gotta figure out why my coil is no longer getting red hot. That’s another topic, I reckon.

Did you check that the screws were tightened, sometimes they’ll get a tad loose when rewicking? How old is the coil…is the coil touching any metal other than the clamps…is your battery low?

Just replaced the coil, and all screws are tight. I’m getting an error saying there’s an atomizer short.

Batteries are 50% on one and the other is 45%. It says it’s .23 ohms.

It’s my first RDA.

Are you pairing your batteries? They shouldn’t have that much difference between them. You’ve probably either overtightened the legs, or have a a piece of metal touching the deck. I’m not good at troubleshooting for others honestly. Post a picture of the build and what type of coils your using. If its a dual coil they must be firing in sync.

If you mean are they both the same size/type…etc., yes. I actually have several boxes of them. It’s done that since is was 6 months old. Smok Mag-18.

A year ago or so, before California stopped selling juices that I like, it was great! Did the batteries discharge at different rate? After about 6 months, yes. But it worked. Bought new batteries a few times, I have a rechargeable’s, (No USB)

The RDA is Thundercloud Blaze Solo.

Interesting. I just put the original tank on her and it still says there’s a short.

Took it all apart and cleaned it. Even the 510.

Is your coil touching the deck? Looks like it needs to be raised a bit. When you use dual batteries you need to pair them and definitely label the pairs. For example I pair my batteries immediately after receiving them and keep them separate from my single batteries. I use a sharpie and date them and assign # and letter. For example I would label 06/25 A1 & 06/25 A1 on both batteries. 2nd pair 06/25 B1 on each etc.
@OldGoat has some great tutorials here on VC. He’s definitely more knowledgeable and better at explaining.

Could very well be… I’ll check tomorrow after I setup my new lighted magnifying glass. These antiquated eyeballs (Bi-foculs? I have try-foculs!!) Don’t work so well.

I have @OldGoat email address. I’d ask him but he just lost his mom and is out taking care of everything for the next week.

We just launched a new web site together. I designed it and he’s the poet. If you want, I’ll pm you the site name/ Don’t wanna do it here. as there’s a rule against se;f promotion that I have a lot of respect for.

What I don’t get is that the tank that came with it, brand new coil FROM Smok is telling me I still have a short.

I hate to buy a new mod… That Social Security check is about the size of a postage stamp!

I have NO idea what you’re talking about. Oh, @SessionDrummer ! Where are you???!!!

@PaulyWalnuts did you say the coil ohm’d out at .23 ohms ??

If so, that’s not a dead short. @Letitia was on track with making sure you’re not having “metal on metal” where you shouldn’t be. I’d try another MOD.

You mean BUY another mod! I’m one of those that only has one. Already ran it past the boss, since now it says there’s a short even with the original tank.

Unless you have another tank you can try on that mod.

If you unscrew the current atty and look down the hole you’ll see a pin in the center. Can you push it down a mm or 2 and do you see it come back up? If the bottom of atty does not meet that pin, you can get an error.

Well, YES !!!

I have all kinds of backups, and more backups for them.

Just read that a second time. So now I’d say that 510 pin is stuck down too low to make contact. One of those 2 might have a longer 510 causing it to get stuck. See if you have a thin pair if tweezers or needle nose that you can use to pull the pin up, probably only 2 to 3 mm. Then try the atty you want to use.

Only thing I have backups of, are my computers. 'Specially the “server” (You know, the one with the great airflow?) that @OldGoat and I’ve been developing for his new web site.

Moved it to a real host and went live this week. Boy is that man stoked! Went from $54/month for his old site to $8.33/month, and it’s WAY cooler.

Looks like I’ll be busy today being grateful for the backups I made of my main PC. At least once a week she’s been locking up tighter that a dutch woman’s pocket book. I should know, I married one.

Only thing in the event logs is, “The last shutdown was unexpected”. It didn’t come as a surprise to me, since I’m the one that shut her down.

Tweezers? Yeah, I got tweezers. Model ship building requirement! Just none that are strong enough to pull it up. NO idea how it can get down that far!

An ordinary pair of tweezers are too large to fit in there.

Roach clips? Got a dozen of those, too. All sizes.

Recommend anything I should replace it with?

2 thin needles, or a tiny jewelers screwdriver maybe.

@Wayneo if the 510 connection was stuck, and not making contact with the Blaze, wouldn’t that show up as a “No Atomizer” instead ?
