TPA and INW come to mind… CAP close third…
Thinking of using an induction burner for VG. I can set the temperature to 140. Only issue would be cleaning to pot/pan for it, soap and water with extra good rinse but should I wipe it out with some vodka as well for some extra sanitation?
Amazon pricing now sucks for my ultra low temp, medical freezer. Jumping ship …
Was testing a USB powered camera lens heater on a bottle of VG yesterday, couldn’t seem to get it over 40deg C,
Based on what I read here by @anon96069639 and a few others, I heated the VG I mixed wit today and misremembered the number- 160° F rather than 140° F . added it to measured flavors with pg and used (dont throw me outta here-the electric whisk ) to combine, then used the USC for 20 mins to degass the sealed flask. Im so looking forward to this GC Homogenizer… Damn its hot holding a bottle of hot VG bare handed to pour! (in case you ever wondered)
I have been testing the “Don’t heat” your concentrates or VG or pg. So far I have found that it doesn’t matter how hot you get it. It comes out the same and stays that way for the duration. In other words, I am not finding any degradation in flavor at all, for the life of the liquid.
That bottle of VG was getting a bit “too hot” for my delicate fingertips. I must have hallucinated reading something about heat potentially negatively affecting the uncombined flavors or something. Maybe its linked to the COVID19 paranoia I already have re:exposure. lol. thanks Dan
haha Except for that LOL. Ya, that part got me the first time.
I won’t be the first to say this… nor the last, but some people just can not tell.
I just happen to be the one that can… and… if I leave my vape sitting around for a day, I can pick up tobacco as a prominent taste too. This comes and goes, showing up recently and totally turning me off… had to change out my coil, rewick and clean my tank to use my setup… really makes me grumpy.
heat from the coil possibly warming the Juice left in the tank or on the cotton: causing the nic in the tank to oxidize? Scientific spitballing here. but to bring the tobacco as a prominent taste, would be a huge problem , if I were vaping a strawberry custard or a milkshake eJuice…
it just ruined my pms juice… so now… if I know I am not using a mod for a minuet…
guess I need to just clean everything and tuck it away. That ruined a 5ml tank… grrr… even after the recoil and wick… yeah… but the juice in the tank did not look to be oxidized… and had zero nic.
beats me!!!
That would rule out oxidation then. I’m not really sure what other specifics could have been involved. Anything is from burnt cotton to Gunk coils. Not sure. Gremlins perhaps. That is strange. I’ve gotten out of the habit of rewicking my coils anywhere near as often as I should. By the time I remove the cotton dry burn and clean everything I’m sure they’re well overdue and I can certainly appreciate the Improvement. That being said I’m the type of person who goes from one flavor to another flavor to another flavor over the course of the day without giving a thought to rewicking for improvements sake. In theory I know the benefit but I’m too lazy.
We still Love you Smoky. Even if Gremlins have hijacked your tank/mod!
Oi~!! I will have my GameChanger in a few days! I popped over to see what you guys are sharing over here. As I analyze the inline processes like heating your VG I see some problems. We’re all excited how fast you can mix a bottle of e-juice with the GC, but waiting for VG to come to temp looks to be a slight hang-up. I was thinking I could heat some water to near boiling (over the VG target temp) drop in my VG container and have it come up to temp faster that just setting it down in a water bath at target temperature. Is carzy?
Could the VG get “cooked” or such if dropped into a 200 F (like a large measuring cup?) water bath? I know a plastic bottle would melt at that temp, but I’m imagining a 4 cup measuring cup (950ml) with 3 cups of heated water (700ml) with like a 250ml beaker of room temp VG. Am I breaking any VG temp handling laws? You can imagine the outer edge of the beaker VG will be getting the full 200F (93C) temp before it can even out within the beaker to a target 140F.
Just sayin’ it’d be very simple to pop 3 cups of water into the microwave for a couple minutes and drop a beaker of VG into that …as long as it doesn’t F’ up your VG
First, let me say, Awesome! I think you will like it.
What you describe is exactly how I used to do it and I am pretty sure quite a few others also. I since changed the way I do it. I simply put my container with every thing except nic. take it to 200 F by the time I get it down to my “lab” in the basement it is about 180 F by the time I start.
As far as the VG is concerned I’m pretty sure it starts to degrade at approx. 280 C. It is the PG that I would be concerned about. I am in the process of reading up on that subject now.
Thanks O’Legend. Yeah a beaker could allow not only evaporation of the volatiles, but invite contamination (just dust etc.). Switching to Erlenmeyer flask which should be great for using your tool too. Heating the VG might be mandatory for functioning of the GC but sounds like it may kill critters hiding in the VG at the same time.
Yeah anyone mixing at home is guaranteed to be standing feet away from an HVAC vent.
Now I’m remembering an old post where someone shared a post from Reddit I think where a guy took a picture of a swimming fluke of some kind in his VG bottle …If I remember correctly there were pics or video
Man- Im all over that! got a 4 cup Pyrex and a ramekin to raise my Boston Rounds so the cap is above water line.
I use a pyrex container with a lid and use a coffee cup warmer which takes my vg to a perfect 50c. The pyrex container has a pour spout (which is very handy which is why I bought it bonus lid) my set up works perfectly
