For the FIRST TIME EVER, a Master Flavor List of EVERY Flavor I’ve ever reviewed!

Alright, things have quieted down a bit here, so it seemed like a good time to get this done. People have been asking me about this forever, but it was a BIG task, so I kicked the can down the road. If you’ve been wondering why I’ve been posting some previously reviewed flavors in their own threads, I’ve been working on this. I have FINALLY, completed a TOTAL LIST of every flavor I’ve ever reviewed. Yes, a COMPLETE LIST, and it’s searchable, with links !!!

This ^^^^^ is why I created this.

It took quite a while, because I have a LOT of reviews. I originally attacked it by scraping and putting ALL of the actual text into a searchable database, and while all encompassing, it rapidly became unwieldy.

If you’re not familiar with the current Go-To’s, my Base Camp, check it out.

The Flavor List Base Camp is good, but it can be hard to find specific things easily, like a particular series, MFG, or specific flavor.

Well, those days are over. I know how I research flavors, check for notes, etc., but I don’t know how YOU guys do. So, let’s see what’s what. I have NOT publicly released this (even though this is a public forum) yet, so take a look, and see what you think. It’s designed as a Master Index, which auto searches, as you type, with direct links supplied. I’ve managed to pack it all, into a portable, YES, you can actually download a small file, OR you can view it hosted on a site. I have it in a temp directory, so you guys can check/test it out, as well as a zip file, which is basically, a single, small html file you can download and use.

It’s still BETA, but a very polished BETA.

Over 52 series, with over 1,000 flavors. At your finger tips, for the first time ever !!!

Well holy crap, and a HUGE thanks out to @lukeloop for noticing that I MISSED the entire 2nd series from Duomei. I cannot thank him enough for his help with this, as this is a HUGE project, and after reviewing over 1,000 flavors it gets impossible to remember them all.

Super huge thanks mate. Also, @whthek was also helpful in providing a lot of feedback in the Beta testing. As I get close to finalizing this HUGE project, I have decided to drop their names on the list, in appreciation for their help.

Hi SD,
If it’s not too late I wanted to offer a couple of thoughts:

  1. I’m not particular about colors as long as there is enough contrast to easily read.
  2. For us older folks with vision problems, a font size easily readable would be great.
  3. I wanted to suggest that rather than subdivide the menu by your review grouping or year, that they simply be collated by manufacturer, all together. When folks jump to the review, if they’re interested, they can find when the review was performed?
    Other than that, great job.

Roger that on the contrast, and size @CaptainKirk.

Regarding the break up of the tests, I cannot tell you how many different ways I tested arranging them. I did do multiple tests just like, or similar to what you mentioned. What ended up happening was it became a wall of text. Unappealing to the eye, and almost hard to focus on. I still have a few different approaches I might try, and we’ll see.

From my “Which One Do You Like Best” Poll/Thread, which one worked best for you ? And thank you very much for your feedback.

Alright @CaptainKirk I’m now working on something INSANE. Dark AND Light, in the same file !!!

Not complete, but see what you think.

Hi @SessionDrummer - I had a look and I dig it. Since the entire list is searchable/filterable, if I search for (for example) “blackberry” I get the filtered results that I can jump from. I think this is a huge asset to the tool. I’ve looked at the tool from both my cell phone and computer, and it’s readable for me.

One thing I noticed is when I look through my cell phone, in portrait mode, the flavor links re-orient fine, but the heading runs off the screen to the right and I have to scroll to the right to see the full heading. At first I thought it was a problem, then I realized it was simply hidden to the right. Again, great job and to @lukeloop and @whthek too.

Dammit @CaptainKirk, try and fix ONE thing, and break two OTHER things. Yup, yup, yup. It looks like I broke the mobile display loooool. Well, at least it only took me to iteration 5 to do it.

And the OG …

Invaluable feedback, as I always have my mobile (Firefox) set to “Display Full Webpage”.

@CaptainKirk, (and anyone insane enough to help test this), would you like to try this, the 11th iteration. Nav bar, and fixed size search box were borking it up.

As Austin Powers said “yeah baby!” The cell phone portrait mode seems to be displaying the full heading and filtered jumps still working. My android cell phone web navigator is Samsung Internet, already set to dark mode, so when I view the index in light mode, that actually comes through as a dark gray background. Dark mode shows as a black background, so I’m sure if my cell phone internet browser overrides your page settings there’s not much to be done on that. My Microsoft Edge computer browser is set to dark mode, and your light mode shows as a light gray or blue.
