Welcome to VC @OneJobJon  Nice watch! Looks like that model came with oil pressure, volts, and water temperature gauges, too! Sorry, that’s the old ‘gear head’ in me :innocent:

Any problems navigating the place, @Grubby , @woftam , @Steampugs , or any one us will try to help!

I wear two watches, one for daywear which is a Seiko 5 automatic field watch in a beige colour with a beige NATO style strap and for evening and more formal wear I have a antique Victorian solid silver pocket watch that’s key wound with a fusee movement and on a Albert chain.
I will upload some pictures when I have more time as the in-laws have come to visit. 🫡

This probably doesn’t qualify for this thread, but what the Heck
Grampa Heck kept this in his pocket, and after he passed, it was handed down to my Dad. I think he just stored it away. Then, when my Dad passed 8yrs. ago, it was given to me. I never had kids, so whoever raids my house when I kick the bucket, will have an old family heirloom in their hands. And, yes, it runs!

No brother or sister so it could stay in the family?

That’s a very nice piece Brian and very much worthy of this thread.

My Sister, who is 7yrs. older than me, and my niece, are all that’s left. I have a first cousin with two son’s that could take it. I should make it known to them!

I did some research on how to open this watch, and found the serial number stamped right beneath the face plate. Then, I looked up info based on that number. Grampa was only 10yrs. old when the watch was manufactured, so I’m guessing it was handed down to him from his Dad(my Great Grampa) Anyway, it’s 131yrs. old!

Try buying anything today, that’ll last through 4 generations.

Wow, talk about some history @whthek.

Yes, for sure, SD! I’ve had it locked up since receiving it, and occasionally unwrap it just to have a look. Something like a watch, I’m guessing was a luxury item for an otherwise simple way of living(running a farm) that my grandparents lead.

No watch, I’m a modern person living in modern times…
