So I just got a call from Oakdale Police Department telling me someone reported me as stalking. Told me something about someone parking in front of a house, leaving and coming back.
I laughed and told the officer to come see if I own a vehicle and check my license to see that I’m not even allowed to drive because I have early onset Alzheimer’s and have gotten lost.
He then asked if I own a white Tahoe! I said, “Did you not hear what I just said? I don’t own a vehicle, nor do I drive!"
Asked me if I live in Bridleridge. I suggested half the town lives here. Asked my name. I said, “Jesus Christ, man, when’s the last time you had a hearing test?” and hung up on his dumb ass.
In all my years, I have never seen a more inept police department and a City government that cares less about a neighborhood.Especially when this neighborhood provides one hell of a tax base. Besides the fact that our property taxes alone are $14,000/year, We do most of our shopping here as we know it pays for our police department. Houses here range from 1/2 million to 1.5 million.
Here’s just ONE example of OPD’s arrogance. Few years ago, kid next door is playing some seriously offensive rap crap, 4 letter words, sexual innuendo… Called OPD.
Cop comes to MY house first lest the kid doesn’t know who called to complain… Says something to the effect, “Did you know there’s an amendment that gives us the right to free speech?” I asked if he knew the difference between speaking and playing music? I didn’t hear him speaking and I now need your card. Asked me why!!! LO freaking L!
Told him because I know the chief and that the City Manager lives in this neighborhood just a couple streets down and they need to know how arrogant you are. I’m you, I’d go tell the punk to shut the music off and I’ll do what I can to have your badge.
Pauly, only you could be accused of stalking somebody with a vehicle you do not own, while not being allowed to drive, and still turn the phone call into a performance review for the entire police department.
Most people would say:
“I don’t own a white Tahoe and I don’t drive. Please record that and give me the incident number.”
You asked whether the officer needed a hearing test, threatened his badge by association and hung up.
That does not make you sound guilty. It makes you sound exactly like PaulyWalnuts being interrupted during business hours.
On what you’ve told us, mistaken identity sounds rather more likely than you secretly operating a one-man surveillance unit. Still, write down the officer’s name, the time of the call and any incident number in case somebody follows up.
You apparently cannot drive across town without getting lost, yet Oakdale thinks you are running mobile reconnaissance.
University of ass-holes, remember? Top of my class.
Any interaction with OPD in the future:
Start recording the video. Guarantee an officer will tell me I don’t need to record because he has a body cam. Besides I didn’t give you permission to record this. To which I’ll respond by dramatically looking around, then saying, "You have no reasonable expectation of privacy out here in public.
Ask for his card and put the incident number on the back.
Been thinking on this… How is a mistaken identity even viable? I’m 3 foot 26 inches. For you folks that think the Metric system is easier than the imperial measurements, there are 12 inches in a foot. I’m slightly below average height. For a Chinese man.
I’m also 30% (or so) over weight. I have bags holding up the bags under my eyes, I’m all but bald, I have hair sticking out from the outside of my nose, ears and eyebrows and even my pubic hair is a thinning, grey. It was a slow progression south.
I’m not exactly what you would describe as incognito.
After I told the man I don’t drive, and he asked if I owned a white Tahoe, I should have said. "Oh, shit I forgot about that thing. I just washed and waxed her.
