Ayup @Timwis, that’s a lot of coil types. Is this an upcoming review?

I’ve used a few different types but not nearly that many before. Is there some information somewhere that’ll explain the pro’s con’s of each of those types?

I’ve been interested in branching out into different coils and I’m looking for somewhere to start reading up on the characteristics. To date I’ve used Fused Clapton (both 3mm ID and MTL fine) and most recently aliens, that’s it.

Really to find out for myself mate, being either a MTL or Single Coil RDL vaper by choice like you I really have only used Claptons tri cores and Aliens but will be good to try more exotic coils when reviewing RDA’s!

The best people to find out characteristics are from coil builders themselves!

@Timwis that actually describes me spot on too. My preference generally is MTL + RDL single coil, although I’ve been using MTL + DL dual coil mostly lately.

I actually bought some exotic coils too a few weeks back from MTNCoils in Brighton. I happened to find a 1 day special offer of buy 5 sets get 5 sets free, which made the handmade coils £2 each, so got quite a bit to try, although work load has got in the way of vapexperiments.

I’ll have a trawl through YouTube when I get the chance and understand them better before installing. Although I’ve actually tried the Alien MTL and it turns out I prefer the Geekvape MTL Clapton spools.

The best MTL coils I use are Hybrid Aliens SS with N80 Binding which I use with the Replay feature, although cheap and mass produced I find the coilology and Vandyvape MTL coils very good and also NatureVape do a good range of coils at very reasonable prices!

The MTL Hybrid coils i get from a coil builder based in SA! When he tries to explain characteristics of different coils to me (most goes over my head) basically the coil type is only part of the story another of course is wire type but he also says wire quality makes a big difference of course making high end coils he would say that but then his coils just seem much better than any others I have used!

Is the ohm of the coils (printed on the labels) you have there for dual or each individual coil?

The ohm printed is for Dual on all apart from the MTL which it is per Single.

The “2 coils” on the MTL baffled me with the ohm underneath until I built the first one.

Thought that would be the case, if it was per coil they would scare the f88k out of me being a wuzz!

I gotta say the oxva Arbitor solo is a restricted MTL beautiful looking tank and set to the biggest Airflow hole on the Dial is more like a Slot and almost a Dtl drag so i love the variation from tight drag to very loose drag.It can hold a 3mm coil but a .6 ohm seemed perfect at 40watts.I use the coilology spooled tri core wire n wrap 6 times around the 2.5 or 3 mm jig and its better than the geek vape premade wire or get coilology premades.Ive used flat clapton mtl coils too that FitbIt switch from thadt to the bigger Eclipse single coil Rita.Im very happy with both tanks…great flavor.I also got my DoomX,ZuesX and Kylin m dialed in( mesh rtas) I mean people complain mesh is a cooler vape but so is a mtl Rta.Plus the flavor is banging in those mesh tanks.I mixed some Watermelon Guava and a Coffee Danish with hint of coconut.I use 9mg salt nice DIY that I vape at 50-60 Watts.Theres nothing not warm about 60 Watts plus with mesh its not even really building.U bend a strip into a rainbow shape n drop it in n clamp it n wick it.No clipping leads or strumming hog spots.I won a profile m n never loomed back lol but yeah the Oxva Arbitor solo and the vertex are great RMTL tanks…i own 4 mgl tanks n frankly get better flavor from the less restricted mtl tanks and I’ve got the Ares 2 , Bezerker n Bezerker mini, artimis…idk no matter what material n80,kanthal,s s even superfine vandyvape 30 g clapton is about the best mtl wire but RMTL n mesh n Dtl Rta just has better flavor for my DIY recipies which I’m sure is no diff than shelf bought…ive mixed over 2 yrs n have over 40 recipies I made up in my head by taking notes n researching the best concentrates instead of how I used to buy flavors.Randomly buying what sounded good bug not rated so hot lol…thnx man

Welcome to VC mate, I think coils as well are dependant on the characteristics of the individual RTA or RDA, i’m a believer in surface area is a major contributor to flavour even with MTL RTA’s but then some work better with simple round wire!

This should save me some time - it isn’t huge but it is big enough. Will fill 10 - 100ml (adjustable) 2 bottles at a time. Can feed from a 30lt hopper or a wide neck 2 lt bottle.

Thanks to @whthek posting the deal in the deals section picked up the Valkyrie RTA and wow, is this good, may pick up a second. The ultem chimney reducer makes this 30mm vaoe like a much smaller tank, so far very impressed

I also got the Voltrove Endgame and Vaperz Cloud Valhalla V2 Mini but those will be built when I got a little more time. According to a friend who got the Valhalla V2 mini yesterday the Nightmare RDA is better so we shall see.
