Good Morning All,
I was recently asked by @cloudycaptain if I would pitch in and help to craft and revise Vaping Community’s rules and policies regarding Disposables. I agreed and was granted Moderator privileges to accomplish this task. Thank you @cloudycaptain, @Grubby. and @Steampugs for the trust.
I wanted to take a minute to advise The Community that there has been an update to our rules. A new rule regarding Disposable Vaping Products (DVPs) has been implemented and can be viewed here:
A short summary is that while DVPs have a role in smoking cessation, we at Vaping Community do not support that long term use of these products. There are several reasons, but one primary reason is the lack of available recycling methods and programs for these devices. We support fully the use of Open Systems that are undeniably much more ecologically friendly. We also fully realize that in our ever changing legal and regulatory environment, many folks simply have no other available choices. Please review the new rule and feel free to post concerns or contact the staff with questions. Thanks all.
As a note to this, @CaptainKirk and other moderators deliberated very honestly to balance the reality that many people DO use DVPs, but for the vapers at large they are not a good foundation for the Community. Yes, they result in a lot of reviews and promo posts, but there are other sites out there that can cater to this type of soft marketing. We feel that being a source of info and education for trad vape products (open systems with a variety of flavor options) is going to serve the public most in the long run. Especially as people discover that DVPs are really a bad deal when you count the costs.
A user can request for anonymisation of their account at any time.
If the user has a lot of posts you cannot delete the account + posts through the admin interface, only anonymise, a lot of the spammers are first time posters so are deleted and blocked
Now that is a damn fine move, and one worth cheering for. Big thanks to @cloudycaptain, @Grubby, @Steampugs, and of course our freshly minted mod @SessionDrummer for standing up for something that actually matters.
We all know disposables have a place in the “emergency get-a-smoke-free-fix” kit, but long-term? Nah mate. They’re the paper straws of the vape world — sound good until they crumble in your hand, and then you’re left choking on plastic regret.
Proud to be part of a community that’s still got a spine and a soul. Open systems forever. Rebuild, reuse, recycle, and rip clouds like adults with brains.
Ok, so the old guard may be sensitive to some history here I am guessing… Once upon a time, sub-ohm vape was considered “dangerous” and bad, and then mech mods, and then internal battery mods, menthol flavors, custard flavors, etc., and now “disposables.”
Pretty much everything that is considered normal in vape now has been under the eye of Sauron at some point in time. Are we making the same mistake with disposables? Perhaps we made a mistake not clarifying that it is what we would call single use disposables. ( just added “single use” to the “policy”)
If you can charge the battery, then that’s not a disposable. If you can refill OR replace the pod, then that’s not a disposable.
Disposable? Recycle? I thought they were called vape and drop. 20,000 people in this City. One Jr and one High School. California can suspend or expel a student caught vaping. Do they here in this big City?
Judging by the disposables dropped around the school grounds, I’d have to say no.
This is a VERY conservative City. Especially for California. Do we not care? Are our teachers too lazy? Don’t tell me they’re understaffed, we just voted for more money for the schools.
I think I’ll be at the next monthly town meeting asking WTF? Can’t we find a few volunteers to patrol the schools, kick ass and take names? Hell, I have one of those electric scooters. I’ll volunteer for after school. (Noon is to early too be alive)
