My Initial Experience With the QP Fatality M30 LE

Good Morning All,
You may have seen that I was lucky to order and receive a QP Designs Fatality M30 LE:

I wanted to provide a few initial usage thoughts.

Coils:
2 x Wotofo Ni80 0.22 Ohm Aliens 3 mm 5 wrap 26*3/36. Legs trimmed to 4 mm - build came out to 0.12 Ohms.
Wicking:
Cotton Bacon Prime - Wicks trimmed exactly to mid point of juice well opening to facilitate wicking.
Airflow:
Top airflow = 50% open, bottom =100% open.
Power:
Running the unit @ 100W

First Use:
Per instructions, I closed the juice flow control and loaded the unit with some Zeppola Crunch I had steeping, and the unit ran flawlessly for the first 5 ml tank load. I’ve been experimenting with different power settings, and I watched Nick Dumas video on high wattage vaping to take some cues, but the first run was at 100 Watts:

Second Use:
When the first tank was emptied, I removed the deck, cleaned the tank section, and left the wicks in the deck to re-use with:

When the tanks parts were dried, I reassembled the tank. I then gave a bit of attention to the wicks and pulled them up in the wells ever so slightly to ensure that a gap was still visible. I wound up with half of the juice port open to juice underneath the wicks. I then installed the tank, closed the juice flow control, and filled the tank. (This was yesterday.) Unfortunately, the tank caused the unit to leak immediately when I opened the juice flow control. I closed the juice flow, cleaned up the leak, opened the juice flow half way, and tested, The M30 performed excellent, and I was getting a good, dense vape. I then raised the wattage up to 120W, and believe it or not I think this was hitting the sweet spot as the density and saturation increased. I’ve never vaped at a wattage this high before, but I think that M30 handles it well. I then closed the juice flow for the night.

Next Day:
This morning when I picked up the unit it promptly leaked onto my hand again. I couldn’t fathom this because the juice flow was fully closed for the night, and I hadn’t opened it yet. Left the juice flow closed, cleaned up the leak, opened the juice flow 50%. At 120W, this thing vapes beautifully. Dense, fully saturated, and the wicking is keeping up with some chain vaping. I was getting suspicious though, so I removed the deck for inspection. Turns out one of the wicks had pulled itself up and out of the juice well which was allowing juice to free flow into the deck. What a surprise - another rookie mistake on my part after six plus years of vaping.

Thoughts for now:
Clearly 5 or 8 mls of juice in the tank is going to create some pressure on the juice flow ports, so this unit probably requires a good amount of cotton in the ports. I ordered some 3.5 mm aliens from Coil Clout, but the M30 is vaping great with the 3mm Wotofos I installed above. I’ve always been somewhat uncomfortable with high wattage vaping, but I think I’m getting the handle.

Despite some initial difficulty, I get the feeling I’m going to be super-happy with the M30. So far, the best vapes I get are from the M30, my M25 Remastered, and my Aromamizer Plus V3, All three of these have gone to the top of my chart. For a time, I was also using some MTL devices, but I’ve always been trying for that fully saturated vape that I truly enjoy, and these units are definitely giving that. I hope these comments and references may help others along - have a good day all!

Hi All,
A quick follow-up. After re-inserting the wick that had come loose, I started vaping the unit again and it vapes beautifully on this build @ 120W with airflow set as above. I then took the test step of leaving the juice flow open overnight. This morning, all is good and dry - problems solved. Despite the minor ā€œflight take offā€ issues, I have absolutely no complaints thus far, and I plan to use this unit regularly. There are still parts available at QP Designs:

Believe it or not, you can get glass tanks for the M30 at MomoVaping. I bought glass for my QP Juggernaut V2 at this site, and they fit great:

Good Luck All.

Well, I’m crying again. A day ago I was trying to disassemble the M30 for cleaning, and even with the tank tool, I couldn’t get it apart. For those not familiar with QP products, they incorporate a feature of reverse threaded top caps - off is clockwise, on is counter-clockwise. This creates a small problem - if the tank top is slightly loose on the chimney, putting on the top cap can un-screw the tank top, so the tank top must be on fairly tight. I made the error of trying to hold the tank bottom with soft pliers and cracked the tank glass. I have to say, this is one feature of QP products I don’t care for, but a pile of spare glass is on it’s way from MomoVaping again. Heavy sigh. It’s still among the best vape I ever had.

Kirk, my two cents…I rarely, completely disassemble a tank after the initial cleanse. The tank assembly itself, just get’s a thorough flush under the faucet with lukewarm water. I keep canned air in stock as well, for drying where paper towels can’t reach. I mentioned ā€˜lukewarm’ water…I once had an o-ring jump out of it’s groove, on a Steam Crave tank, and didn’t notice until it leaked all over the place! Hot water caused metal expansion, and a route for an o-ring to ā€˜jump’ the track.

Hi @whthek - sorry it took me a while to get back to you.

I never considered leaving tanks assembled for cleaning, but now that you’ve brought it up. Unfortunately, if I want to swap out the straight glass for bubble (or vice versa) that still leaves me with a slight problem.

Oooh - I really like that idea too.

I try to be extremely attentive to this. I usually try to keep a finger over the o-rings when I’m cleaning.
I think my new glass may be arriving today - can’t wait to get it into the M30 again. Have a good day man.
