Internal coil diameter?

Trying to make a coil. Google said the internal diameter should be 3mm but that looks rather small compared to the coils that came with the RDA.

What size should I be aiming for?

I don’t know what you have for an RDA, but 3mm ID is probably good, if you’re MTL’ing, @PaulyWalnuts

Cool, thanks. I definitely need different cotton. I have organic cotton silver, made in Japan. I can get it THROUGH the coil, but when I try to pull more out, it just pulls apart. What came with the RDA (Thunderhead) had a kinda shoe lace tip on the end, and pulled through like a champ.

I WANNA do DTL. Is that still 3mm?

Oh hell, my bad. I used the wrong abbreviation. Yes, 3mm should work for direct to lung.

Awww. SO sad! Wait’ll you get old.

I’m the one that blew up our web site. I have a test machine, and the live machine. I wanted to add a simple category to the forum. Could NOT remember how. Took several hours, but I finally figured it out.

The test machine on one monitor, the live machine on the other. Did all of the same settings but it blew everything to hell. No idea what the whiskey tango foxtrot happened. Before I did anything, I made a backup of the database and the file system.

Then downloaded the backup to a server, and a flash drive. Reinstalled the server from scratch, then uploaded and restored from the backups. It’s a no go Captain.

Session drummer, or Dman said he had installed several hundred of the the software I am using, and has volunteered to help. He is doing that now. He is a Huge supporter of the website and has contributed tons. LOVES it!

Sorry, but I need a friends ear to bend. I was a network engineer, with over 30 years of experience. Since I retired in '08, I’ve kept busy in the field doing jobs under the table. (Lest my Social Security be reduced:) Installed this bulletin board software a dozen time. “THOUGHT” I could do it with my eyes closed. Doc said to keep the brain stimulated and I was kicking ass! Early stages if dementia and all.

It didn’t come naturally like it used to, but after a couple month she was ready to go. Time was, it would have taken but a couple days.

25 years ago I was diagnosed as bipolar. It took a while but I am on some very good drugs and the perfect doses.. I don’t get depressed, maniacal or anxious. Since Thursday evening I have not eaten or slept. I want to smash and hurt. I have cried. I know I’m not stupid but I feel like an idiot.

I am not looking for sympathy, Just like a woman, I have an urge to bitch and complain. harp and yell.

As James and Earl said, “thank you, for your support.”

3mm is pretty standard, but it isn’t a rule. For most RDAs, 2.5–3mm is a good starting point, and 3mm is probably the most common size.

If the coils that came with your RDA look bigger, they may well be 3mm or even 3.5mm. The best size depends on the deck and the build you’re aiming for, so I’d start with 3mm and make sure the coil fits comfortably without getting too close to the posts or airflow.

The sudo-wanna-be-intellectual-never-has-been in me just remembered I have digital calipers.

The cotton I have was recommended here but it’s too fat to fit through the coils without bending them.

Just thin it out a bit with your tweezers.

Yeah, I have a poop load of cotton but I’m afeared I’ll get it too thin.

Guess I’ll just have to experiment.

At this particular juncture, I’m testing my juices. Quit smoking (finally) a few months ago, but I can’t taste anything. Flavor is too week even though I’m stealing recipes from @SessionDrummer and @OldGoat. Probably my taste buds are shot, but I can taste cottage cheese which has a mild flavor.

In order to quit smoking I got some nicotine patches and a bunch of sugar free suckers.

Before that I was hacking up lungs all over my garage floor. @OldGoat (I call him EGO) suggested I needed to give my lungs a rest. Hard to do when you’re craving nicotine.

See, I’m not very smart; I “could” wick a coil, drip a flavor on it, test it, toss it in the trash and re-wick. Freaking tedious!

I have a pod with (at this time) 15 spare refillable’s. I put just enough juice in a pod to soak the coil, let her soak for 10 minutes and give it a try. I’ve gone through a good 20+ 15 ml bottles and all are a no go. Once the juice it running low I add another flavor. I know, it won’t taste as good as it could, but I’d think I’d taste SOMETHING!

I have a few bottles of store bought I can taste (makes no sense) and as soon as I’m done finding a few city’s to move to at the end of September in Tennessee, (tax friendly to old farts, especially compared to California…) I’ll mix some more. Half will be 1.5 times flavor of their recipes and half will be double.

I’ve been arguing with this crap since February of LAST year! I know my cognitive skills have taken a dump in the last few years, but after 18 months, I’d think something would have sunk in.

I know, doubling the flavor strength will, like as not be TOO strong, but it’ll give me another starting point.

If you go too high with any flavor it tends to mute regardless of the flavor. Try going lower, and steep longer. Then if a certain flavor isn’t where you want it add a couple more drops to the bottle and wait about 3 days before trying again. Mixing is a journey. Also helps to only drink water, no ice, while testing the mix to get a better idea of what direction you might want to take it.

Apologies for the late reply, I don’t visit VC very often these days.

The recipes were from @SessionDrummer and @OldGoat. The only modifications were the PG/VG to that for a pod. From what I understand, that should bring MORE flavor.

Someone else said something similar, so I “mixed” a bottle of brown sugar at the % the calc suggests. Then I made a few more bottles with increasing %'s. Only made a handful, though. Busy packing and getting the house touched up for sale.

Can’t wait to blow this pretentious state and it’s $14,000/year property taxes, $6.50/gallon of gas and a 6 oz steak that costs $22.

With the equity we have in this house we can get one for cash in Tennessee and still put $$$ into savings. Property taxes there? Less than $1,000/year. Some as low as $400!

Crime rates are pretty high in a lot of areas, but the North East of the state is not so bad… Since I don’t need a permit to carry my .45 on my hip, I think we’ll be okay. Wife has a snub-nose .38.

Homey don’t play around since his house got broken into a number of years ago. Now I have an alarm system. Lot’s of houses have signs in their front yard, “Protected b ADT”. I don’t advertise. Come on in and find out, sucker!

What’s this have to do with mixing? Not a bloody thing! Just stoked to get outta here!

NOT looking forward to the weather. Was there last October snooping around. COLD!!!

@PaulyWalnuts PG is a better carrier for flavors. As far as the final pg/vg ratio, I’m unsure if that will affect the perceived flavor one way or the other.

Good riddance !!!

I’m hearing TN come up more and more often lately when people are talking about retiring. It’s funny because FL used to be the one that everyone talked about.

The double H state. Hurricanes and Humidity. I was in Florida early May. Already 98 degrees and 100% humidity.
