Political, medical, shopping, education, et al is also kept by and made “online” by the various institutions one uses too. So there’s virtually no way to remain anonymous. Yes you can control home surveillance, but unfortunately encyclopedias of personal information are always out there.
I completely agree with that. Someone that chooses to use an AI, or the internet, or email, text, phone, etc. needs to understand that data is open to abuse as long as it exists. And it exists for nearly forever. My bank knows where I got gas on June 8 of 2003, even though I’ve long forgotten. The internet (electronic data) is fantastic, but also deeply prone to abuse.
I’ve had several apps that I wanted to use on my phone, but they did not function unless I ‘accepted’ some permissions that I felt it did not need. I didn’t use the apps. I’m sure many/most people consent to ‘required app permissions’ because they simply want to use them badly enough.
I know since I have that evil Echo in my home you wouldn’t think it, but I’m a huge supporter of personal and even data privacy. I consider the consequences before blindly adapting anything. It’s a matter of choice about things like Echo. It’s not a matter of choice as far as what Blue Cross (for example) does with their data though, which I loathe. Their lawyered up data usage policies leave plenty of room for them do do whatever they damn please with your data, and then there’s the security aspect of how well protected do they actually keep it from strangers.
Spot. On. Couldn’t agree more. Hypocrisy. They loved Facebook until they learned how much data was being collected and abused, didn’t they…
OK, back to the Deals!!!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unless you live in a Podunk town (that operates its own PBX [Public Branch eXchange]; for example: St. Jacob, IL) AND you’re calling ONLY other numbers that exist within that PBX, chances are 90% plus that the calls made are going through the internet at some point, and are fully monitorable by the powers that be. Even that copper landline gets converted to digital once it hits most local nodes.
Cell phones are already digital so…
It’s not a question of “allowing” anything IMO.
It’s a byproduct of the times in which we live my friend.
The only option to have true privacy, is to live in the hills, and be a luddite (which isn’t necessarily a condescending statement). At the same time, it’s just not a realistic option for the majority.
And even then, they can track/take a picture of (or video) your ass from orbit (IF you’re a high enough value target). So… sigh
I hate the premise (of being monitored) as much as you brother. But there’s also something to be said for the ability to have the ABILITY to audibly call for help (by the disabled and/or elderly, etc) thanks to modern technology and conveniences (like digital, and Wi-Fi) in the event of a fall, for someone like my mom (or others in her generation) being able to still call for help, when she doesn’t carry her phone from room to room inside the house.
I guess I’ve just come to the point of acceptance (to some degree) of some “basic facts” of where we are at these days.
Great Deal on 40 Ts.
Pity eightvape don’t deliver to NZ
