YiHi SXmini MQ Class Mod Revew

Introduction

The MQ Class from SXmini has just landed in my hands for review, and my first impressions are that it’s a stylish, premium-looking device. The design exudes elegance, with a tiny yet solid body crafted from stainless steel and aluminium, making it both durable and lightweight. Inside, it houses the renowned Yihi chipset, known for its precision and performance, which sets high expectations right from the start.

Design

The mod is strikingly good-looking straight out of the box, especially in the black finish, where the stainless steel components create a bold contrast.

The top plate will house a 24 mm tank and is firmly secured with two torque screws on either side of the 510 threaded connection, which features engraved air feed channels. These channels allow airflow to reach the spring-loaded 510 pin, making it particularly beneficial for bottom airflow tanks that rely on AFC pins to direct air to the coil.

On the rear of the device, a vertical chrome-plated band runs along the body, featuring the MQ Class Logo etched out. For my personal taste, I’m not a fan of this inclusion. In my opinion, it takes away from the otherwise clean aesthetic and is a fingerprint magnet, I would expect this shiny finish will scratch easily if the user is wearing jewellery on his or her hands when using the device.

On the bottom of the device, the Type-C USB port is positioned next to the 18650 battery housing. Inside the battery chamber, there are visible battery orientation markings.

I did notice that on my review sample, the battery cap felt rather crunchy when removing it for the first time, likely due to some machining residue left on the threads. However, after the initial use, I gave it a clean, and it has not caused any issues since. Unscrewing the battery cap takes quite a few turns, but thankfully, when refitting it with a battery installed, there is a protruding tab on the cap that helps reduce the number of turns required for a snug fit.

On the front of the device, there is a circular fire button positioned above the up and down adjustment buttons, with the display screen neatly integrated below them. The buttons are tactile and responsive, offering a satisfying click when pressed. The display is bright and clear, providing all the essential vaping information at a glance, including battery level, wattage, coil resistance, and puff counter.

I quite like the ergonomic, curvy design of this device. The rounded battery section fits comfortably in the hand, while the mod expands outward to encapsulate the screen and chipset, giving it a seamless and well-balanced look. Weighing only 75g and measuring 76 mm in height and 36 mm x 24 mm at the top, it maintains a compact, slick form factor, pictured below the MQ has a high-end appearance.

Even a novice user will find it easy to navigate through the different modes and settings, ensuring a hassle-free experience.

Performance

As an old-school wattage vaper, I found that the MQ Class performed exceptionally well during testing. I tried a variety of tank setups, from MTL to RDL, and experienced no issues throughout my time using the device. Battery efficiency varied depending on the setup, but overall, it provided a reliable performance. Additionally, there were no misreads on coil resistance or unexpected auto-fires, which speaks to the stability and precision of the YiHi SX416J chipset.

Verdict

SX Mini has introduced a lightweight compact, smart looking mod that stands out with its premium materials and excellent CNC machining, ensuring top-tier build quality. The MQ Class is packed with features thanks to the onboard YiHi Chipset while maintaining an intuitive and user-friendly menu system, making it accessible for vaper’s of all experience levels. Its lightweight form factor, interchangeable 18650 battery, and 60W power output make it a versatile choice for both MTL vaper’s and DL users with tanks up to 24 mm. Considering its price point, premium aesthetics, and solid performance, I can confidently recommend this mod to anyone looking for a stylish and reliable vaping device.
