My dream of scraping that staircase, sanding it down to perfection to bring out that beautiful wood and give it a nice coating, is shattered.
The nice wood underneath is totally and utterly without character, bland and lifeless.
The bannister underneath that glossy stuff is the same wood as you would find on a broomstick.
I’m still smiling, it actually soothes my pragmatic nature. I will leave it blotchy and imperfect and put the coating on.
It will be unlike any other staircase, blotchy and probably a little scarred here and there, but it will have a hell of a lot more character that way.
It perfectly suits my personality. I’m not bland and lifeless.
You are like that staircase. You’ve got a character all of your own. Cherish it. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate you the way you are, is not worthy of your time and you are better of alone. At least you have the time to spend doing what you want to do, without the constant nagging of some significant other in the background.
Well, you can concentrate to make a lengthy list (with a fair few if them applying to me is something I cannot deny). That is a skill on of itself.
We all have skills which we cannot ever see for ourselves. Many praise me (which I never understand) but the number of times I’ve tried to kill myself for being a failure are beyond count.
Even if you only find one skill - revel in it. And, use it to positively influence the world. Even it is trolling others to raise their blood pressure and make them think.
I’m enjoying the whole of the UK joining together in our annual celebration of who we hate, hold hands around bonfires and celebrate the hanging, slicing open, and cutting apart of a Catholic.
It’s the one day when all come together (regardless of race, colour, and creed) to remember what we do to terrorists and then, using that joy to try and blow ourselves up for a night.
A simple explanation to Non-British English speakers. As we have to explain why Thanksgiving doesn’t matter to us - you need to express guilt for not marking Bonfire Night.
Finally getting some essentials to arrive: 36 inches of green stuff / kneadatite will be meaningless for others but it’s the foundation of miniature sculpting. And, these two ribbons of epoxy can aid me in making others dreams real. Oh, and 55 bases for another project - so claiming that anything I say is baseless will fail (Dad joke of the year contender).
Nope, the town is awful but uncanny how such a small dive of a place can produce so much talent whether it’s Alan Ball, Peter Kay, Paddy and so many more then look at the wider Bolton area and it’s just a hotbed of talent!
The bastard eats better than me, if the water or food is near empty he smacks it around the hall, “fetch me some fresh water serf!” Which is always spring water. He gets chew toys, teeth cleaning treats after his turkey and cheese in gravy dinner… costs me around 100 a month to keep him fed, but I’m fine by that, he’s my best friend
Saskatoon berry and rhubarb pie from the grocery store near me…. I don’t eat pie often but this was a must buy…. Didn’t even cut it, just picked it up and kept taking bites…
