Wanna See A Six Year Old Coil?

Hi All,
I’ve made reference recently that I have an RDA that’s been running the same coil for the last six years. Well, I finally decided that it’s served it’s country long enough so it’s earned retirement. Here’s the veteran still in it’s Hadaly clone. It’s mounted upside down because coils only mount in the Hadaly one way.:

That coil is a Wotofo 0.28 Ohm Ni80 Dual Core Fused Clapton. Here it is side by side with an identical replacement I just prepared with an additional half wrap, just like the original:

Here it is, mounted in it’s new home and ready to go for six more years. Matter of fact, the extra half wrap made the leads the perfect length, and I didn’t even have to trim them:

I hereby award that original coil the Vapers Distinguished Service Medal for performance above and beyond the call of duty.

Oh - by the way. I have a stash of about 50 of those Wotofo DCFCs - at this rate, I can vape that device for 300 years!

That looks like one of my coils after a week, maybe less, depending on what juice I’m vaping.

Hi @boardjames - just wanted to follow up with some final thoughts. I noticed when I installed the new coil, it was heating up and hitting faster. I also noticed that when I had a good look at the old coil, it’s possible I saw some rust. In retrospect, from a health standpoint, I don’t plan to run an Ni80 coil that long again.
