@SmilingOgre I have used some cheap, grating, almost painful IEM’s in my time and when I finally tried out some Westones, I never went back !!!
I have a pair of ER4-B’s with a cable similar to yours. Depending on the shirt I wear I can sometimes hear the movement of the cable in my ears
And here’s me thinking my Sennheiser Momentum headphones where the shit.
Sennheiser made some good shit.
Bought some German headphones a couple of years back that cost four times what I would normally pay and they were at least 4 times worse than any I have tried, so tinny it wasn’t funny! They were that bad I obviously at the price thought they were faulty until I got a replacement pair, nope just a pile of sh^te!
Now I can’t remember the make to be sure but it started with S and very similar to Sennheisser maybe they were knock offs sold as originals (ebay) zero base!
Focal baby, Focal! we we…
@Wayneo I wish I had started using IEM’s much sooner than I did LOL.
Awww shit @SmilingOgre, you went and RE-triggered me. I’m remembering a set of Focal Competition components I had in an audio install, and although very expensive, there was something about them, that just set them apart. Maybe it was the tweeters, maybe the kevlar midbass cones, not sure, but WOW.
Most accurate sound reproduction I’ve had. I really enjoy them.
I hear ya. I’m no musician and I only got mine cuz of small ear openings. Most earphones fall out.
I think I told ya once before I do have a pair of Focal/JMLab Micron Carat’s (Titanium tweeters) for the bedroom, along with a small sub, driven by all NAD components. They are quite impressive for their small size
Yeah, I had a pair of customs made a while ago, and they offered FAR superior isolation, and rejection, but I finally killed them, and am now just using foam tips. Once I found the right size, the isolation is ALMOST as good as customs, and the bass response is about AS good. Wish I had known that before I paid for the custom fits !!!
I can play the tenor horn which also allows me to play most Brass instruments reasonably (due to family on both sides being Salvation Army), my problem was I couldn’t play “Highway To Hell” on my tenor horn!
Same, went until I was about 14. I played more baritone/euphonium, bit of trombone, but started on the cornet. So a bit of everything.
Grandparents on both sides were Salvation Army officers so I had no choice in the matter which I resented as I would rather of been spending Sunday’s playing football with my friends but I suppose the values I learnt have made me a decent human being and also being able to read music isn’t something everyone can do!
It’s one of very few activities that requires the use of both sides of the brain at once, an advanced application of muscle memory as well. Wax on, wax off and soon you will be doing things you never imagined possible.
