Design & Features

The Blaze Pro Max RTA stands out with its bold 28 mm base diameter, expanding up to 35 mm when fitted with the extended bubble glass. Its design is both striking and functional, combining CNC-machined stainless steel into sharp, chamfered edges on the top cap and base of the RTA, giving it a precision-engineered and premium appearance. The clean lines and deep engraving further enhance its visual appeal, while also providing some grip for disassembly.

Up top, the Blaze Pro Max RTA features a wide 810 drip tip designed specifically for direct lung vaping. It’s secured in place with knurled ridges on the drip tip itself and a recessed O-ring inside the top cap, ensuring a snug and stable fit.

Removing the quarter-turn top cap reveals two large, kidney-shaped fill ports that make refilling quick and mess-free. The quarter-turn mechanism is smooth and efficient, providing fast access while ensuring a secure seal when closed.

The airflow control (AFC) ring features precision machined 32 micro honeycomb airflow holes on both sides, With grippy knurling, offering both grip and a stylish finish. Thanks to the excellent o-ring tolerances, adjusting the airflow is a buttery smooth experience.

Inside the chamber section, you can clearly see the top airflow channel designed to funnel air directly down toward the build deck, The channelling is thoughtfully machined, ensuring smooth air delivery from the 62 micro holes in the AFC ring.

While on the bottom of the RTA, you’ll find cleanly laser etched Thunder Cloud and Mike Vapes branding, signifying the collaboration behind the Blaze Pro Max. A gold-plated protruding 510 pin is fitted securely in place using an Allen key fitting, ensuring solid conductivity. And is suitable for use on a mechanical device.

Build deck

The build deck of the Blaze Pro Max RTA features the familiar and highly effective W-shaped design, a signature of the Blaze series. This deck is engineered for exceptional airflow and flavour delivery, boasting an impressive 60 micro airflow holes*that provide dual 310° airflow coverage around the coils. This means the air hits the coils from nearly every angle—underneath, from the sides, and above—ensuring even heating and maximum flavour saturation.

The postless W shaped deck layout accommodates dual coil builds with ease, giving you plenty of room for larger or more complex coil setups. With flat head gold-plated screws securing the coils in place.

There are large wicking ports on either side of the deck, allowing for efficient juice saturation and supporting high-VG e-liquids with ease. A thick PEEK insulator is positioned between the positive and negative sides of the deck, ensuring solid heat resistance and electrical separation for safe and stable performance. Surrounding the outer edge of the deck is a robust rubber O-ring that firmly seals the tank section, preventing leaks and ensuring a tight, secure fit for the glass section.

Coil Build

The build process begins with the included coils set of Blaze branded 3-Core Clapton coils.

The recommended length to cut this is 5 mm on the coil leg trimming tool provided.

Snipping the legs off the coils was effortless with the sharp stainless steel wire snips from the provided MV Pro build kit. These snpis and comfortable to hold and use.

Mounting the clipped coils and lining them up in the deck using the coiling rod was an absolute breeze. The W-shaped postless build deck layout naturally guides coil placement, and using the multi-tip screwdriver from the MV Pro build kit made tightening and securing the leads quick and hassle-free. The tool’s solid grip and interchangeable heads ensure reliable torque, giving you confidence during installation.

Coils fitted and sitting nice.

After dry burning the coils and gently strumming them with the ceramic tweezers to eliminate any hot spots,

The coils glowed evenly and were ready for the next step-Wicking.

Since there was no cotton included in the Blaze Pro Max RTA package, I reached for a Muji pad and used the sharp scissors from the MV Pro Build Kit to cut even strips of cotton. The scissors made light work of the dense cotton, allowing for precise, clean cuts.

I gently rolled the ends and fed them through each coil, feeling for just the right tension—firm but not too tight.

After trimming the tails to the outer edge of the deck, I gave the ends a slight fluff before tucking them neatly into the large wicking ports.

Ready for saturation.

Performance

The Blaze Pro Max RTA delivers impressive performance right out of the gate. Once wicked and filled, the wicking kept up effortlessly, even during heavy chain vaping. The 60-hole W-shaped airflow system provides smooth, quiet airflow with excellent distribution, surrounding the coils almost entirely for intense flavour delivery. The vapour production is dense and satisfying, especially with dual 3-core Clapton’s installed, and the heat is well-managed thanks to the top airflow design that minimizes spit back and leaks. This RTA is very capable and could easily accomodate larger more complex coils with ease.

The draw is smooth and has the slightest touch of restriction with the airflow wide open, Closing it down slightly gives a warmer, more concentrated hit without turbulence. Throughout my testing, there were no signs of leaking or dry hits, showcasing its leak-resistant design and well-thought-out wicking system. Overall, it’s a top-tier performer in both flavour and vapour production which is ideal for advanced users looking for reliable results in a dual-coil RTA.

Looks like a very worthy contender.

I have used the Bonza Pro Tool kit and the Requiem Tool kit, both came with the same scissors. I didn’t think they were that sharp. The little fold out scissors in my CM tool kit is much sharper. It was a pain point while doing both those reviews for me.

Both sets I tested the scissors were razor sharp. Did you contact CS at Thundercloud?

Nope, didn’t bother. I am probably just spoilt with the super sharp scissors in my CM kit. These Thundercloud scissors are not bad, just not up to my standard.
This is what happens when you get the best early on, it makes it hard for others to compare.

I’m liking that little screwdriver, I might have to pick up the tool kit just for that one piece. Thanks for the review mate.

Thank you @JimmyLee

The screwdriver is by far my favorite part. I did not get the MV Pro kit to review yet, so I can’t offer an opinion about the multi tool. I got that same screwdriver with the Requiem kit and I have to say, it is awesome.
