SteamCrave Meson RTA Reviewed by SessionDrummer

Thank you, Andrew!! What a PITA it is, to constantly check that my AFC hasn’t moved, yet again, on my Plus V3’s
I had planned on switching out that O-ring next time I had them apart, but I would’ve used another clear O-ring!
Good info! :+1:

Also, when my O-ring jumped its track, I had washed the entire tank assembly as one unit, under hot water.

It’s a shame that Steam Crave hasn’t beefed up their clear O rings a bit because they do look nicer than the black ones especially with the stainless steel versions of their atomisers.

I ordered the Meson RTA in the Stainless Steel last night as a birthday treat to myself so I’m looking forward to receiving that. I was toying with getting the black one but the silver chimney section put me off as I wanted it all one colour.

Happy Birthday, Jimmy! :grinning:

I agree that the clear does look better, and as far as beefing them up, it may be a design thing. To be fair, I did/do wash all new equipment with warm/hot water, and that DOES directly effect o-rings in particular, so in this case, it MAY have been washing/user error. In use, and filling / re-filling I’ve had no issues.

Thanks mate.

Well I have received it, cleaned it and put a build in it with one of the two included Clapton coils and I’m very impressed. The flavour is very good for a single coiler and the airflow is so smooth and has the perfect restriction for me even when fully open but the one thing that I don’t like is the O rings that go at either ends of the glass. They just keep falling out of the track’s making it difficult when reassembling trying to keep them in the correct position at BOTH ends whilst screwing it all together. I purposely didn’t wash these two O rings mainly because I was afraid of losing them as they wouldn’t stay in situ so they have NOT been in any hot water. Maybe it is partly due to my dexterity issues but it was rather difficult and fiddly for me to do three things at once.

Well thank you very much @JimmyLee. I can’t state how valuable feedback like yours is. I personally only had the INITIAL issue after cleaning, and haven’t had any issues since. Maybe mine are GLUED in with juice, not sure.

Do you mind if I copy your comments, and paste them across ALL of the websites I posted this review on ?

Not at all mate although I didn’t think that I said anything that special to be honest. Apart from the O rings issue I really like this RTA and I think it’s the best one out of the many that I own. The first time I wicked it up and although I followed the wicking tutorials closely I had some dry hits (I often chain vape) so I used a tip that I learned which is to cut a small slit up the middle of each end of the wick going towards the coil before placing the tails in the juice wells which I normally do now with all of my RTA’s that have top airflow and no more dry hits even when I’m chain vaping.

Well I was thinking mostly of the o-ring issue, to share that with others.

Go for it mate, if it helps others then I’m all for it. I think the next time I have to reassemble the tank I’m going to put some VG on those O rings and hopefully it will keep them in place in their tracks.

Just wondering but has anyone seen @Illogik lately? I’ve noticed his absence and hope he’s okay.

I noticed a reviewer on P.O.T.V has had the same problem as I have with the Meson O rings, he actually puts it better than I did. This is what he said below.

“Putting the larger bubble glass in place wasn’t as straightforward as I’d initially hoped either as you have to watch out for the O-rings at the top and bottom which have a habit of trying to make an escape bid. With things lined up, I then proceeded to try and screw the chimney back in place but couldn’t get any purchase. It was at this point I took a look inside the RTA and realized that the airflow piece inside the atomization chamber is also held in place by the chimney section so you have to hold that in place whilst you’re screwing down the chimney whilst also bearing in mind that the lower airflow piece needs to be in the correct orientation”
I have posted the link to the full review below.

Late to the party on this one. Been eyeing it for some time. Getting concerned about the future availability of RTA’s. I know SteamCrave’s are well built and will last for a time. First coil I put in was a 3mm. I couldn’t see how .5mm could make a huge difference. Second coil was a 2.5mm and the difference was there. Really great flavor as you have noted. Thinking seriously about picking up a second one before EOL.

OUTSTANDING @SmilingOgre. Obviously some setups you wouldn’t even NOTICE a 0.5 change, BUT, on some, and it would seem more often single coilers, you can.

And you are DAMN RIGHT in keeping an eye on that brother.

I’m really glad to hear that Walt, and it means a lot coming from you.
