Severe Allergic Reaction

Good Morning All,

I wanted to share some personal news regarding what I perceive was a severe allergic reaction to Medicine Flower Chocolate (Dark) (Premium).

Recently I was in Urgent Care twice and the emergency room once complaining of severe headache over a month, intense feeling of pressure on brain, vertigo, and recent downturn in vision. CT scan and neurological exam were negative (welcome news as I thought I’d had a stroke) so I was referred back to my primary care doctor. His exam discovered extremely severe sinus infection, sinusitis or rhinitis, and I am on some prescriptions to treat.

The only recent change in my life or my vaping was the arrival and usage of Medicine Flower Dark Chocolate which directly corresponded to the onset of my symptoms. This is not intended as a slight against the company or their products. I believe it’s clear to me that I was simply allergic to this particular product, and it’s killing me because I absolutely loved this flavor, and I recently mixed four different recipes with this product that I was really enjoying.

Generally speaking I just wanted to put this out to remind the Community that the unexpected can happen, and to see your doctor, and be candid and honest about your vaping habits, if you note unexpected, extraordinary health changes. For the time being, I’m forced to avoid vaping while I heal, and I’ll try to follow up again later. Good luck all.

Sounds odd, Kirk, but you know you better than I! Get well bud!

Yes, I certainly can’t explain it. The only other explanation I can reason is that I might have developed a PG allergy. I’ve read that that can happen after a time of uneventful use, so, as an experiment, I plan to move to Max VG mixes. This is why I’m seeking a QP Fatality M30 - a larger atomizer has larger wicking ports, which should help with Max VG wicking (I hope.) I’ve disposed of all the mixes I had that used MF Dark Chocolate, and all of the dilutions I use that are diluted in PG - I’ll use VG for dilutions from now on.
I can’t overstate how terrible I felt and still feel, but I’m feeling better. It was clearly not a sinus infection because a full course of antibiotics has not helped, leaving me to deduce an allergic reaction to something. A steam vaporizer for my sinuses is helping too, but still not ready to vape. Keep you posted.

I want to make one thing clear - I’ve read no (that’s ZERO) other reports yet of anyone having problems with Medicine Flower Dark Chocolate. I’m certain this is likely unique to me, so, in light of that, I will continue to endorse Medicine Flower unless new data comes to light, and I plan to reach out to them to discuss.

Wow, that is disturbing to hear. I’ve never had any reactions like that.

Good Morning All,
I reached out to the folks at Medicine Flower and inquired on other possible reports of reactions to this product. I heard back this morning from Kristi/MF and she related that they have received ZERO other reports of reactions to this product. Unsolicited from me, she was also kind enough to provide me a full refund, so Thank You to Kristi and the folks at Medicine Flower.

I change my VG levels depending on the Season because I’m outside all year long. Don’t worry about volume. Even in 20 degrees F weather as soon as the coil heats up the VG flows fine even with 10 PG 90VG mixes in all my RTA’s.

Good Morning @rcleven - Thanks for the tip on that. I’ve never used max VG in my RTAs, so I was unsure, but I’ve found I like larger tanks, so I’m still looking for an M30. This is still breaking my heart as I was truly in love (metaphorically) with MF Dark Chocolate.

I used max VG all spring , summer, and fall. Only negative it needs a little to steep. I’m a direct to lung vaper and keep my coils as close to 0.20 as possible. Vape around 25 to 35 watts. Saves battery power and chucks to the clouds.
