I thought I would start a section on mixing for pods. I recently got a little device for running around a Caliburn GK3. I haven’t mixed for pods before and did not find a section here. Maybe just a place here people can ask questions or drop ideas etc.
Great idea @lukeloop.
FA King goes really well in them, I’m sure it was you that put me onto that one.
Duomei Yellow Mango is another that comes to mind.
I found if I used the right flavours I didn’t need as higher % as I first thought. Pods were never my main but I found certain flavours went better than others and mostly not the same as my normal bakery dessert mix flavours.
SSA Raspberry Syrup was another.
That is great to hear about King, I am mixing a few recipes today. DUO Yellow Mango is in one my mixes as is King in another. I think 1-1.5% of Yellow Mango would be enough actualy. For King I might try 10% as a starting point but if you know better that would be awesome. Any percentages as a good starting point for these flavors would be handy. Generally I would just try 2x my usual max but still a novice on these pods.
That’s perfect I used it in that range depending on the mix.
I’m sure it will work but I used to go 6-8 and back it with mainly WF Blackcurrant 3%. Sometimes I mixed in raspberries.
Yellow mango surprised me how much I liked it with king.
Would love to see your recipe if you could, sounds great.
Great topic @lukeloop
One thing I’ve noticed so far in mixing recipes for pod devices is that the higher concentrated flavours like NOMZ(SC) SSA FLV seem to out perform the more traditional CAP TPA FW There are of course exceptions to this theory!
Also the brand of device seems to make a huge difference. Bakery flavours in Vaporesso XROS pods just don’t seem to work. They’re better in a Luxe Q pod but even better in an Innokin Endura V pod
Just my twopenneth worth! Other brands and opinions are available!!
The Dumoei flavors are working well in the pods. 1.75% Sweet Pineapple, 1.5% Yellow Mango… full on flavor.
I can’t find the one I was thinking about, didn’t really save them properly. But I needed something for the dunny at work.
Blackcurrant Razzer
Blackcurrant (SC) - Wonder Flavours / 3%
King (RE) - Flavour Art FANA (Pazzo) / 7%
Mixed Berries - Duomei / 0.75%
Premium Raspberry - Sobucky Super Aromas / 1.5%
Raspberry Syrup - Sobucky Super Aromas / 0.75%
Flavor total: 13
I haven’t tested this one yet, but I’ve mixed a fair bit with most of these, it should work out. Added Duomei Mixed Berries, it paired well with King in another mix and you inspired me
That was my first impression when I used them in pod mixes
It’s good @lukeloop just filled a new pod this morning, Weird I’m getting a bit of creaminess to it, not sure where from with these flavours.
See how it goes might add some FLV Marshmallow Vanilla, another good one in a pod mix. Normally what I go for if I want that in these mixes.
What do you think made the creaminess? Is it unanted note or good luck?
This is the thread I have been looking for.
I am getting more and more into mixing for pods. It is a lot of hit and miss at the moment. Mostly because I am basing my mixes on recipes I origionally did for Free Base.
I think keeping it simple with strong flavors is the key. I am limiting myself to 3 or 4 flavors and getting decent results. Funny how the calculator questions your sanity if you put over 20mg nic in the recipe.
I saw that. At first I though I made a mistake. I was going for 30mg, Most considder that a mid level here in SA.
I think maybe the SSA raspberry syrup could have given it that light creaminess possibly. Not sure.
I am working on a potential colab with ZarBar. If this works out, I will become my own worst enemy. OldGoat is going

On another note, @Grubby can you have a look at the calculator and see if you can fix the nicotine warning? I still can’t go above 10mg even for pod recipes.
Congratulations
Thanks for this section! I’m new to DIY and am awaiting a POD system that I will use Nick salt in. I’ve been wondering how that will affect some of the yummy older recipes I’ve seen that use freebase and a more (advanced? Technical? RTL/DL) setup. I’ll come back here regularly!
With a pod dont be affraid of 20mg nic salt level. If you were used to 3mg in an RDA then 20mg salts in a pod isn’t that high because remember that you probably only go through about 3-4 ml a day compared to 20-30ml a day in an rda ( or whatever you used to go through). Simpler recipes work best in pods. Push your fruit flavors but keep any creams lower YES lower % for creams in pods works best. 0.75% Meringue and 0.5% Marshmallow and 0.5% cream would be a starting point. The pods these days can give pretty good flavor but the nuances are a more blurry. Depends on what you are using? Let me know.
