PG & VG Dispensing

So a few years back I bit the bullet as I was sick of attempting to get PG and VG out of the 25 litre bottles so I bought a couple of metered peristaltic pumps they work awesomely.

I made a little cabinet with sliding drawer shelves to help me get the bottles in and out when they need a change. Jump forward to now and I put casters on the cabinet JIC I wanted to move it around, as a result,
it developed a wobble so I welded up a new version.

In case you were wondering (you probably were not but … ) the blue mat under the VG is a brewers heat pad that keeps the VG at a static temperature so the metering pump is more accurate.

Smartly done @wotfam, and nice welding there.

Nice! The heating pad got me to thinking about how you warm your batches up to homogenizing temps. I presume everything you make get’s that treatment?

Yes mate the brewers pad is just a little head start on the heating and it means that the vg has a consistent flow rate in the pump.

Yeah, I get that part, but someday I’d like to see the heating technique you use on your large(compared to mine) batches.

What your doing with the heat pad reminded me of how the metered engine oil pump, from a 55gal. drum, was inaccurate in the cold garage during winter oil changes of the trucks I used to drive, and do maintenance on.

sure mate i will take a couple of pic this weekend on mix day.
I use a few nano heat lab hotplates with temp probes.

Not sure if they still make them or not

I WILL admit to hating dealing with 5G jugs.

without the metered pumps it is still faster to throw the heat pad under it and thin it a little so the tap actually pours at a decent speed. Aeroflow Taps are a lot faster than the normal ones (the little air tube helps heaps)

VERY nice !!!

Here you go @whthek 3m25s you will never get back lol
Please just skip thru it it is pretty mundane.

In case you were wondering the grey stick in the mix when it is on the heat pad is a temp probe it is accurate to about 0.5c and controls the heating really well.

Your funny! So, the paint stirrer type device depicted in video…that’s used to…premix? I mean, you DO homogenize all of your batch’s, no?

No, I don’t homogenize everything. Everything gets 50c heat but I homogenize mixes that I need to be ready quickly.

The stirrer is an IKA RW-20 and they do most of the mixing.
