I’ve been thinking about how electronic heating technology could modernize traditional hookah without completely changing what makes hookah unique.
Instead of replacing the whole setup with something that looks like a piece of consumer electronics, could an E-HMD simply replace charcoal while keeping the traditional hookah base, hose and overall experience?
There seems to be an interesting balance between convenience and tradition. Charcoal is a big part of the traditional experience, but it also brings heat management, ash and other practical issues.
I came across an interesting article discussing this idea:
What do you guys think? Does replacing charcoal with electronic heating preserve the identity of hookah, or is charcoal too important to the traditional experience?
