Looking for suggestions

I’m pondering on stripping down my hadron pro to remove the paint or whatever the black coating is, and painting it purple. Would love any suggestions as to what would be the best way to remove the current black coating and what type of paint would be best to use? Never done anything like this before so any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

If you have access to a sandblaster that would be the best method but you will have to totally strip the mod back to its shell, they don’t always go back together easily but if you are careful stripping it shouldn’t be super hard. You will need to paint it with etch prime before the finish coat goes on.

You could also mask it off rub it back with some 320 sandpaper and paint it with automotive paint.

I don’t have access to a sand blaster so would need another method.

By automotive paint do you mean spray paint?

you can pick up a passible sandblaster on ebay fairly cheaply (they are not super fast and do tend to clog if your sand it a little damp)

Plastic beads or garnet can be used but using them will take some of the material off with the paint so I would use dry fine grain sand.

Ya auto spray paint would be the best unless you know someone who can powder coat it.

You don’t have to bare metal strip it to put paint on it just need to rough it up some so the paint sticks if you are not going to sandblast it.

Hmm ok, thanks. There is a place near me that does powder coating and I’m pretty sure they sandblast whatever for you first too. I might have to check that out.
If i got it powder coated would i need to apply some sort of protective coating over it?

Na, powder coat is pretty tough but it does need bare metal to stick to I am pretty sure (also needs to be baked after it is coated so it would need a full strip-down)

Ok cool, thanks Simon. I might just do that as it sounds easier and they will surely do a better finish than me with a can of spray paint.

Stripping it down shouldn’t be a problem as long as everything is removable with screws etc.

Just as a word of caution the dna screens are extremely fragile in the connector area so be really careful when unclipping the screen from the board

Noted. Thanks :+1:

Might not hurt to take photos/notes of how you disassemble it, too, as It will likely be apart for a week or two.

I will do, thanks Brian. There’s really nothing to these mods though. Take the battery out and it’s just an empty shell with a 510 and the dna board/buttons.
