Design & Features

The Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA stands out as a more compact and streamlined version of its predecessor, the Fat Rabbit 2 RTA. The size reduction is immediately noticeable when the two are placed side by side.

The Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA may carry the “Solo” in its name, but its postless deck design opens the door to both single and dual coil builds. While Hellvape recommends sticking to coils no larger than 2.5 mm in diameter due to the smaller build space, the RTA retains the robust functionality of its larger counterpart.

Key Features:

  • Exterior Aesthetics: The Solo 2 mirrors the iconic look of the Fat Rabbit line, featuring a knurled quarter-turn cap for easy top access and the recognizable Fat Rabbit logo on the chimney section.
  • 810 Drip Tip: Held securely by an embedded O-ring.
  • Filling System: Dual large fill ports
  • Airflow Control:
    • Dual Adjustable AFC Rings: Generously sized cutouts provide ample dual airflow for maximum customization.
    • Honeycomb Airflow Plates: Located inside the chamber, each plate boasts 16x 1.2 mm holes to direct smooth top airflow precisely over the coils.
  • Branding and Base: Additional branding appears on the bottom of the RTA, alongside a gold-plated 510 pin.

Build deck

The build deck of the Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA closely resembles its predecessor, the Fat Rabbit 2, but with subtle refinements tailored for its more compact form factor.

Build Deck Features :

  • The Solo 2 deck utilizes 20x 1.1 mm perforated holes, compared to the 32x 1 mm holes on the original Fat Rabbit 2.
  • This adjustment balances airflow for the smaller chamber, ensuring smooth and concentrated flavor delivery.
  • Insulation and Screws:
    • Equipped with a chunky PEEK insulator to ensure heat resistance and electrical isolation.
    • Flat-head screws provide reliable coil clamping and ease of installation.
  • Wicking Channels:
    • Designed to be slightly more compact but still adequately sized to accommodate dual coil builds.
    • The channels maintain sufficient capacity for e-liquid saturation, supporting a consistent vaping experience.
  • Threading Quality:
    • Both the deck threads and chimney section threads exhibit precise machining, allowing for seamless assembly and disassembly.

    • The bottom airflow control ring mirrors the top ring, both featuring large intakes for customizable airflow settings.

Single Coil Build

Installing the included 3 mm Ni80 Clapton Coil and Strand of shoelace cotton is an easy process, I set about building, cutting the coil to the designated length shown on the included coil trimming tool. No issues placing the and securing it in the deck.

I then dry burned the coil and threaded the cotton After trimming and fluffing out any excess, the cotton tucked easily into the large wicking wells, making the wicking process smooth and hassle-free. I’ll saturate the coils with a 70/30 VG/PG e-liquid to give it a head start.

Single Coil Performance

Once everything was set up and filled, I found the Fat Rabbit Solo 2 way too airy with the AFC fully open, especially for the installed coil!. The coil came out at 0.3 Ω and I ran this at 60 Watts. Some time later, after almost closing the top airflow and only having the bottom airflow open a quarter way, did I achieve a decent draw with a hint of restriction. The wicking kept up no issues with dry hits and flavour and vapour production was just OK. I couldn’t quite get enough heat out of this coil without getting a dry hit.

Dual Coil Build

I selected a pair of tri-core 2.5 mm fused clapton’s for my build as a dual coil setup. Same procedure as before, with ample room for the wicking on the dual coil build.

Dual Coil Performance

Again, with everything was set up and filled, I found that with the both AFC control rings fully open the draw was too airy and loud!. Dialling them down to half way open was an improvement, but after some more adjustment what worked best for me was the top airflow a quarter way open and bottom left half open. A smooth warm draw and saturation and better flavour imo.

Verdict

Hellvape continues to expand the Fat Rabbit bloodline, introducing a more compact and versatile offering with the Fat Rabbit Solo 2 RTA. With a base diameter of 25 mm, this RTA is designed to fit seamlessly on a wide range of devices, making it a good choice for those seeking performance in a smaller package.

In my personal experience, the dual-coil configuration shines, producing richer flavour and denser clouds while still allowing for smooth and customizable airflow.
