Fumot is promoting a 0.4-ohm DTL disposable for Germany containing a claimed 17ml of 20mg/ml nicotine-salt e-liquid.
That combination bothers me more than the latest ridiculous puff count.
Disposables were already the least defensible version of vaping: sealed batteries, coils, chips and casings thrown away when the liquid is finished. Now manufacturers are pushing the same business model into DTL—the part of vaping traditionally built around durable mods, refillable atomisers, rebuilding, DIY and knowing your hardware.
DTL has always been the workshop end of vaping. We wrapped coils, learned battery safety, adjusted airflow, mixed juice and reused good hardware for years. Turning that into a sealed 20mg consumption machine feels like disposability invading the one part of vaping that should never have become disposable.
To be clear, I am not attacking the user. Adults should use whatever keeps them away from cigarettes, and disposables can sometimes be an accessible first step for a smoker.
My issue is with the manufacturers. They looked at one of the most reusable, repairable and enthusiast-driven parts of vaping and decided it needed more plastic rubbish.
There is also a compliance question. Fumot’s listing gives the Altera 14K a 17ml capacity at 20mg/ml, while Article 20 of the EU Tobacco Products Directive ordinarily limits nicotine-containing disposable tanks and cartridges to 2ml.
I have not inspected the device or seen the German notification file, so I am not declaring it illegal from a webpage. There may be a lawful compartment arrangement the marketing has failed to explain.
But 17ml and 2ml are very different numbers. If there is a legitimate mechanism, the manufacturer should explain it.

Am I being too protective of DTL’s old workshop culture, or is a high-strength DTL disposable exactly the direction vaping should refuse to follow?
