The situation with the police in the US is absolutely abhorrent, they can just do what they like when they feel threatened.
They are more like a murder squat than a police force.
Another problem with your cops that I read a very long article about a few years ago is their extensive use of steroids which results in something they call roid-rage.
They become very paranoid and triggerhappy and cannot handle even the most normal situations without escalation.
Punishment is a few weeks payed leave so any cop in need of a holiday only has to shoot someone and bingo.
