Coil Art - Show Us Your Coils

Thanks @JimmyLee, glad I could draw you out of hibernation with my coil porn :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::joy: to be completely honest I’m still playing around a bit myself especially with the single coil deck the id of that build is 3.5.mm ni80 wire and its working pretty well so far. Clouds :white_check_mark: flavour :white_check_mark: on other builds I have gone as big as 4mm and that was ok but used a much bigger wire, and ran to hot for me, I like to keep my wattage low usually and generally speaking I use thinner Clapton wire like with that build which I find works better for me. I have also seen people go much bigger but like I say I try to keep my wattage low and this is working great so far. Hope this helps! :+1:

Thanks mate. I am exactly the same as you with my coils and wattage so what works for you will most probably work for me too. I am still playing around with the positioning of the coil going higher and lower, the distance from the side airflow etc and also which way up to use the outer airflow ring. So far I have found that the closer to the side airflow holes I go the better the flavour is.
I am mostly on the ELR forum and known as Lucas James and I forget to come over here sometimes but I do a lot of reading on these forums and don’t post a lot myself but you guys have taught me a great deal for which I am eternally grateful.

No worries fella, I do find it’s a bit easier to position the coils on the single coil deck, no need to trim the legs until your happy with the position and you’ve got 2 air holes on the bottom so smack bang over them and I like to be able to see the bottom air hole clear looking from the side. I do find the dual deck a little harder and a but hit and miss sometimes if you try to do it too quickly.

Well, to say I only got into this whole vaping thing to give up the stinkies and now I’m looking into this whole building my own coils lark? Well seeing some of the beauties in this thread has made me decide it is certainly something I should be doing so I’ve gone ahead and got my first RDA (VO Scorpion Flip) and an RTA for my tank.

Not going to post pictures, as janky is not even a janky enough word to describe how janky it looks in there right now, but hell it works well, and I have to say I’m not going to buy a premade atty again! All these pictures and videos I’ve watched make all this look sooo much bigger and easier than it actually is! Well done on some of these chaps, and I hope to add a few pictures of my own soon!

I never got as good as these guys, but I love the artistic side of it all. To get these coils twisted requires a fair bit of learning, trial and error, and craftsmanship, just to name a few. And the finished products show.

For example, i made these…

And coil art blows me away.

I’m not 100% sure what the hell I’m looking at right now, but at a guess its some thingymajig for core-wrapping? Nice looking though!

And yeah, my first couple I coiled myself look a little ropey but I’m making pretty decent clouds now with my 5th attempt! But yeah, I’ve been twisting wires together since before I could work out that V x A = W ! So while I doubt I’ll ever have anything medal worthy, watch this space

They are parts for something automotive related that tested cars at 200+ mph running on a track mounted to a treadmill.

Some mirrored aliens and again in the Asgard Mini.
30x5/36. Purchased not made! The guy that made them calls em “Hi5’s” since they’re 5 Core highly polished aliens.
