Design

Zelos X80 Mod

The mod utilizes a durable blend of Zinc-Alloy and Aluminium Alloy construction, giving it a sturdy, quality feel in the hand without being excessively heavy, weighing only 108.5g. The body features the classic, slightly rounded, double-barrel shape of its predecessors, ensuring an excellent and comfortable grip that sits well in the hand ideal for all-day portability.

All controls are located on the front panel, a responsive square firing button, the 0.96” TFT colour screen, and the adjustment buttons, while the USB Type-C port is conveniently situated at the bottom of the control panel.

A distinguishing aesthetic feature is the inclusion of two customizable LED light indicator bars running along the sides of the device. These LEDs are not just decorative; they offer six selectable lighting effects and seven classic colours that users can choose from in the menu, enhancing both the visual style and providing a subtle, functional means of relaying information like current battery status.

Up top, the mod features a centralized, spring-loaded 510 connector, which ensures atomizers up to 26 mm in diameter will sit flush without any unsightly overhang, offering broad tank compatibility.

Crucially, the bottom of the mod houses two important features, a secure, threaded screw-off cap via a tab that you lift and unscrew to access the single external 18650 battery compartment. This cap includes venting holes for enhanced battery safety, and battery orientation markings inside.

The dedicated physical on/off switch that offers a welcomed layer of safety and convenience, allowing users to instantly power down the device to prevent accidental firing or changes during transport.

The design of the Aspire Zelos X80 Mod cleverly inherits the successful aesthetics and design aspects of its smaller Zelos M80 predecessor while scaling up the form factor to accommodate a single external 18650 battery.

Nautilus GT 2 Tank

The tank maintains a premium look, constructed from durable stainless steel with a diameter of 24.8 mm, and weighing 70.5g. and is an excellent companion for the Zelos X80 Mod. It features a generous 4.5 ml capacity (Standard Version) minimizing the frequency of refills.

The tank’s design is rugged, incorporating protective knurled, grippy steel bands that not only aid in better grip when disassembling the tank and refilling also enhance durability and safety for the glass tube.

Refilling is made simple and clean via a convenient twist-to-open top-fill system, which seals tightly to prevent leaks. A quick twist of the top cap exposes the two decently sized fill ports.

Its defining feature is the ultra-precise bottom adjustable airflow system, Ranging from 0.8 mm

To 3.0 mm, which allows for surgical fine-tuning with a smooth AFC ring that gives a satisfying click on each adjustment.

.

Crucially, for maintenance, the entire tank disassembles and reassembles very easily, simplifying the process of deep cleaning.

And exchanging coils is simple thanks to a convenient push-to-fit system.

Aspire includes two 510 drip tips with the kit. Both drip tips are secured firmly in place with double O-rings, ensuring a snug fit during use.

These drip tips are identical in internal diameter size, so no specific MTL version was included.

Coils

The inclusion of these two distinct coils highlights the kit’s versatility and its commitment to catering to different user preferences. Aspire provide a 2S Mesh 0.3Ω coil & and the classic Nautilus BVC 1.8Ω coil. This gives users two distinctly different styles right out of the box, catering to a range of preferences.

The Nautilus GT II Tank offers unmatched versatility due to its full compatibility with the vast Aspire Nautilus coil ecosystem.(both BVC and Mesh)

Nautilus BVC Coil 1.6Ω (7-11W)
Nautilus BVC Coil 1.8Ω (10-14W)
Nautilus Meshed Coil 1.0Ω (13-15W)
Nautilus Meshed Coil 0.3Ω (23-28W)
Nautilus 2 Coil 0.7Ω (18-23W)
Nautilus 2S Coil 0.4Ω (23-28W)
Nautilus 2S Meshed Coil 0.7Ω (20-25W)

The coils thread into the deck smoothly and easily, while the included high-quality rubber O-ring ensures a perfectly tight seal to prevent leakage.

Performance

Performance-wise, the Aspire Zelos X80 with the Nautilus GT 2 tank delivers exactly what you’d expect from this iconic coil family—rich, clean flavour and smooth vapour production.

The preinstalled 0.3 Ω Nautilus 2S mesh coil excels at RDL vaping, producing warm, flavourful clouds with quick ramp-up and a satisfying throat hit. The 1.8Ω BVC coil, on the other hand, offers a cooler, tighter MTL draw that’s perfect for nic salt users.

Airflow remains consistent with no turbulence or whistling, and the rotating top-fill mechanism ensures easy, mess-free refills on the go. Coil longevity is impressive, especially with lighter e-liquids, making this setup a dependable daily driver for both MTL and RDL styles. No leaking or gurgling experienced during testing.

Verdict

The Aspire Zelos X80 Kit is a standout choice for vapers who prioritize portability, flexibility, and a high-end feel. By marrying the legendary reliability of the Nautilus coil ecosystem with a powerful, external 18650 mod, Aspire has created a kit that successfully bridges the gap between simple starter setups and advanced high-wattage devices. While its 80W limit means it isn’t for extreme cloud-chasers, its precision airflow and robust ASP chipset make it one of the most versatile and durable options on the market for MTL and RDL enthusiasts. If you are looking for a reliable, “daily driver” setup that offers both timeless design and modern safety features like the dedicated physical lock, the Zelos X80 is an easy recommendation.

I would like to thank Aspire for sending the ZelosX80 Kit over for review, and I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on this one.
