UPDATE! Bootstrap Upgrade!

I have upgraded the calculator to work with Bootstrap 4, not only does this improve the look of the calculator it also aids the calculators functionality on mobile devices

Thanks for the report, Chrome seems to cache the CSS, so a quick reload is in order to view the page properly

windows 10 here… and for the last month on it I haven’t be able to use the standard ctl and f5… but ctl and r refreshed mine… thanks bunches… it sure was annoying me!!

Due to my ISP breaking my internet, sometimes it turns off during a file upload…

This causes a partial upload and breaks the page I’m working on.

So if a page on the calculator appears blank sometimes, that’s probably why.

Some flavours that were being used in recipes were obsolete so they have been removed, this means that some of your recipes may now be missing flavours…

I imagine these are recipes that were made very early on and the flavours DB was probably updated before the auto change was in place, there was no other way to deal with this problem so apologies if I broke something

Bug Fix:

Hopefully now, if an invalid / outdated flavour is in the recipe flavour DB it will show like this on the public recipe page:

• I have updated all the valid recipe flavours that had an ID of 0 with their valid corresponding ID
• Adding a flavour to my stash from one of my recipes earlier and it used an ID of 0, cannot repo, I can only assume the ID was taken from the recipe flavour DB and was one of the broken ones I’ve just fixed but will keep an eye on it
• Recipe flavours on the recipe page get their ID for the URL from querying the flavour DB (Flavour Name and Flavour Company), this should always return a valid ID as long as the query finds a valid flavour

On a side note, me, @steampugs & @woftam are working on ideas / features / bug fixes, we have compiled a nice long list separated into various categories and I will be working from that for the foreseeable future, this should ensure we tackle things more efficiently. In the mean time, any feedback / report made by you will aid our efforts on keeping things on track, thanks

When searching for a flavour, the returned results will now sort by “most used in recipes”, hopefully making it easier to find the one you want or at least showing the more popular flavours first, thanks to @woftam for the suggestion

Dashboard and Pipe dreams

One of the biggest parts of VCC is the users dashboard, it is currently very outdated and I have been looking at alternatives that utilise Bootstrap 4, I have a template that I will be testing

While I’m looking at upgrading the look and feel of the dashboard, I am also looking to refactor a ton of code, for example:

• Having the dashboard use existing pages like create and flavour instead of it having its own pages will mean quicker update reflections throughout and a more uniform feel
• Refactoring core functions to operate quicker and more efficiently while simplifying the code will make it much easier for me to push updates
• Moving away from the current use of dataTables to a more customised system to show / filter / search - recipes / flavours etc
• Improving accessibility by creating new layouts that will work well across all devices

Live notifications / updates are also an option but I need to read a lot more to fully understand the impact on the server, I think this would be a great way to make things feel more dynamic while offering a number of much needed features like PM / Recipe Share / Collabs / recipe feed / recipe releases etc

Of course, these things are going to take time but I thought I’d share so you can kind of get an idea in which direction I’m trying to go with everything.
