Yeah going with a bigger coil will bring those lips into play but would need to have pretty much fully open airflow both bottom and side to get good coverage so would be a RDL vape only! Even spaced MTL coils won’t stretch to get fixed down to the outer side of the screw heads. I genuinely believe it was a design fault as in they thought coils would get fixed to the outer side until they realised the distance is too great but was left but then like you said it will come in handy for fitting larger coils but i don’t believe that was the intention!
