Wicking for newbies

I’m strictly direct to lung in everything that I use except the steam crave Titan V2 which has dual serial mesh and at least 6 mm cotton. I’ve not figured out how to get rayon in the mesh (5.5v .28 ohm). So far I haven’t rewicked my Voltrove 41 endgame yet. The first time was cotton, but I will be using Rayon next time. 300 w and .214 ohms on a 6 mm 7 wrap staggered Clapton ni80…

The problem with that is it has no structure – very short fibres – so if you twist one end and poke it through, when you pull, the twisted part tends to separate at the junction between the twisted and untwisted parts, rather than pulling through. Unless you cut your strip very narrow, in which case it is very loose in the coil.

Suspect you are cutting the pad on the wrong edge/direction. My first lesson when learning to wick. I have tried many “Pad” style cottons and none have had only short fibers throughout the entire pad. There has always been a long fiber running one way. Easiest way to find the long fiber direction is to just gently start pulling at the edges before cutting.
