Flavo[u]r Muting

I make glasses of juice for my kids all the time, let’s take orange squash as an example.

The orange squash on its own is overpowering and sickly but when mixed with water becomes a nice orange drink.

What’s that got to do with muting?

If you don’t put enough orange squash in the glass you get a weak orange drink, too much and it’s sickly, can we compare this with mixing e-liquid? I think in part we can, mostly when it comes to single flavour testing, get the percentage wrong and you have similar results.
